…faith holds the key to life’s meaning.
John Maxwell
John Maxwell has a video here– talking about faith being a 3-dimensional concept – faith in God, faith in yourself, faith in others.
After Robert and I, and our friends watched this video, we talked about how Jesus did this:
- He had faith in his Father,
- He had faith in himself, that He could do the task He came earth to do
- He had faith in his disciples, that they could go into the world and ” … make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. “
Shaping and working with this concept – thinking of husbands & wives – I wondered…
What if a husband & wife could look at faith like this:
Believing in God –
Our faith in God can push us beyond our human abilities and give us the trust that He will cover our deficiencies. God’s love for us is alive in Jesus – His Son – and the ultimate sacrifice of His life to erase our sins. If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 NIV
Believing in yourself –
Our faith in ourselves, because He made us and He doesn’t make junk, can give us the impetus to take a risk and step out. We were made for a purpose. We are here on this earth because God put us here – in this place, at this time. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Believing in your spouse –
Our faith in our spouse can allow us to build a good life. He allowed us the opportunity to find each other. He allows us the chance to work together for a life that can be greater than a life lived alone. Love is from God – and practicing showing that love will forge a beautiful union. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:14
Where will your faith take you?
- your faith in God can take you over/through all obstacles
- your faith in yourself can push you to develop all your God-given gifts
- your faith in your spouse can create a powerful unity to be a great blessing
A well thought out post, Lori. In answer to your question my faith, which is completely a gift from God, has brought me into deeper relationship with God. I was saved in 1969 – 42 years ago. He has never left me, even in the darkest nights. He has been faithful to His promise, so I know He will be faithful with all my tomorrows. I heard it said once that in order to have faith for tomorrow, we must glance back and remember how far we’ve come. I thank God I’m not where I was, and I know that I’m not where I will be.
Now it’s late, and I must go to bed.
Blessings,
Debi
