There are more than 100 words associated with “encourage”.

Did you know that encouraging your spouse is much MORE than just verbally  ‘rah-rah-ing’ when an event is happening?

Encouragement isn’t about being a cheerleader.

A cheerleader puts on a uniform at the beginning of a game.  They’re out front.  But after the game is finished, the person changes from their uniform into regular clothes.  It’s impossible to tell the difference between a cheerleader and the rest of the crowd once the outfit is put away.

An encourager doesn’t wear a uniform – they’re not there just for the exciting bits.  Encouragement happens quietly and softly.  It’s ongoing.  (but you’ll be able to identfy an encouraging spouse)

What is Encouragement?

Think of encouragement happening in 5 different ways:

  1. Inspire with Hope – Believing in & contributing to a great future.
  2. Fortify with Faith – Contributing strength through practising faith in God.
  3. Foster with Love – Connecting with no limits or conditions – validating the person God made.
  4. Uplift with Prayer – Releasing concerns, fighting for good & giving thanks using prayer.
  5. Support with Action – Building a life of meaning with a willing attitude – making a united difference in the world, working side by side.
