31 Things I learned by Completing 31 posts in 31 days:
- I am not a quitter. I can actually finish something!
- It’s not as scary as I thought it would be if someone else reads what I write.
- Personal stories/experiences are fodder for a blog post.
- I can go to bed thinking about blogging.
- I can dream about blogging.
- I can get up in the morning thinking about blogging.
- Family is fodder for a blog post.
- My husband likes helping me think up topics to write about.
- There aren’t enough hours in my day to read & comment on all the great blog posts in the UBC. 🙁
- I like connecting using twitter.
- I learned how to use a “search” on twitter so I could check up on all the #blogboost tweets
- I like challenges.
- I found out how to put a sign-up box using Feedburner
- I found out how to put in useful “share” buttons at the bottom of a post.
- Be very careful spelling people’s names.
- I write best in the morning.
- I fall asleep trying to write a blog post after 11:00 pm.
- I can’t spell when I’m tired.
- I must break myself of the habit of using exclaimation points !!!! (!)
- Never hit “publish” without using spell check.

- I love commenting on other people’s posts.
- Quiet is my friend. I can’t write when people are in the room – chatting, chatting, chatting.
- I need to read my posts out loud, so they make more sense.
- Quotes from wise people are a great starting point for a blog post.
- A thesaurus is my friend. I must find other descriptors to use than: great, wonderful, & awesome.
- My husband is proud of me.
- The more you write, the faster your brain works.
- Making lists is fun.
- An outside source for blog post ideas is GOLDEN! (thanks Michele & Michelle!)
- I’m looking forward to the next challenge! Writing for 31 days in the company of great writers, is exhilerating!
I smiled as I read your 31 things you learned during the blog challenge . . . I can relate to sooo many items on your list!!
Congrats on completing the challenge, Lori. Yup, so ahead and put your feet up and relax.
All the best,
MaryAnn

PS: Love the ribbon!
Thanks MaryAnn – this challenge was happening while we had guests, so I had a cheering section. Our friends have gone home, and I guess I have 2 reasons to put up my feet! lol
My favorites: #9, #16, #26
HA! I thought the same thing about the Thesaurus when using “amazing” every other word! 😉
Oops, never thought about the exclamation points 😉 Maybe for me it would be the smiley faces 😉
Ah PeggyLee – LOL – 🙂 !!!
Well done getting the 31 days completed. It is a real boost but now you have started the journey, keep writing. The 30 days while not easy made a difference but is the ongoing commitment to Tweet, like and comment that builds your network and commitment
So true, Roberta – I’ve gotta keep going. At the beginning of the year someone challenged me to stop being so ‘comfortable’ – that comfort was not serving me well.
Thank you for your encouragement!
Oh yes, I agree with so many of your reasons. I told Bob this morning I’m not sure I can “not” blog today, but there is tomorrow’s post to prepare…
Thank you for sharing your wonderful encouragements for marriage.
Hi Bonnie – I’m feeling both relieved and sad that these 31 days are over. I think Robert has said to me at least 6 times over the weekend – “you’re still going to post again next week, right? You can’t stop now!” (or something along those lines)
I’ve really enjoyed your posts – the humor you sandwich into the situations is especially valuable. Please, Bonnie – keep me smurking and chuckling – more, more, more!
So happy to have ‘met’ you through this UBC!
Hi Lori,
Congrats on your completion of the challenge. I love your list i can actually relate to most of them. I like the fact that the challenge has taught you some things about your self that you did realise before now.
The challenge always feels like a summer camp where you meet lots of people and make new friends. I hope we still keep in touch through this forum and through our blogs.
Thanks for commenting, Pamela.
You’re right – it IS just like summer camp. The camaraderie, the groaning and cheering, the sharing of thought and ideas… But no mosquitos, leaky roofs or sunburns! LOL
Keeping in touch and contributing to each other’s success can be a valuable result of this challenge – Let’s make it happen!
Love your list. Great way to finish the challenge. See you again in October if not before.
Thanks, Jennifer – see you in October AND before! Happy writing.
I love this post! You have echoed so many other’s feelings about the blog challenge. I have to admit, the one I dislike the most is not having enough time to visit all the other wonderful blogs. This actually is only my second time over here I think. I’ve been married 32 glorious years though and always enjoy people who “get it” that marriage takes a little bit of work for a whole lot of fun! You have a fantastic blog!
Thank you for your kind words, Martha, and for dropping by!
32 years. Congratulations. I imagine you’ve been together with your husband longer than you were single (?). I love learning from people who have honed their marriage walk and, just as you said, know “marriage takes a little bit of work”… Any tidbits you might share?
Lori,
Congratulations to you! Great job, and I’m so glad we’ve met. It’s funny, I started to make a list of 31 reasons I loved the blog challenge, but thought it would be too hard to come up with 31 when I had a wedding to coordinate on Saturday – a big one at that. So I did 10 things. I love, love, love everyone of yours, so thank you for doing what I couldn’t. Tom and I can’t wait to share coffee with you and your hubby.
Blessings,
Debi
