Fill the Well

Staying emotionally, spiritually and intellectually full takes concentrated action. My sunroom is my working space (it also doubles as our dining room).  It’s a great place to write, read and reflect.

The "sunroom" on a rainy morning - the lit candles help cheer me up!

Here’s what I’m reading to fill the well:

The Amplified Bible -  this is my favorite, but I do read the NIV and NKJV.  Most references on this website are from the NIV and NKJV.

The Meaning of Marriage – by Timothy & Kathy Keller  ”Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God”

Using the Bible as his guide, coupled with insightful commentary from his wife of thirty-six years, Kathy, Timothy Keller shows that God created marriage to bring us closer to him and to bring us more joy in our lives. It is a glorious relationship that is also the most misunderstood and mysterious.

Love That Lasts – by Gary& Betsy Ricucci  ”When Marriage Meets Grace”

Marriage is a profound and marvelous mystery established by God for his glory-and that is for our good. So many marital relationships never reach their greatest potential because they have the fatal limitation of being focused on one another. When our focus is solely on God, our marriages have the potential to thrive and not merely survive.

Desireby John Eldredge.  ”The Journey we must take to Find the Life God Offers.”

Can we find a life filled with passion, without being overwhelmed by it?   … we discover that God is the author of our deepest desires. He has given us desire, and he loves to fulfill our hearts’ desires. For as the Psalms declare, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (37:4).

Emotionally Healthy Spiritualityby Peter Scazzero. This book was recommended by a blogger – unfortunately I CAN NOT remember who and on which blog I read about it!  (sigh)  This is the down-side of reading a lot of blogs…
