Last week I read a devotional from Lead Like Jesus…
Where do you turn when you need help? Your answer is important.
Who, or what, we turn to reflects something about our values and what drives our lives. It indicates who or what we worship, and where we find our ultimate security.
Jesus found His security in His Father, to whom He freely and frequently turned for help. The Father longs to have the same kind of relationship with you.
Where do you need help? To whom will you turn?
“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it–the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” —Jeremiah 33:2-3
This devotional made me consider the first direction Robert and I were given when we married 30 years ago.
Scripture to Strengthen
Do you have specific scriptures which strengthen you?
Encouragement can come through reminding your spouse of the promises God has given you.
- Send a card, or an email with scripture to your spouse.
- Put a scripture card on your bathroom mirror, or just above the light switch.
- Pray, using scripture.

Psalm 23 has gotten me through a lot. Everything from fear of the dentist’s chair to being in an ER worried about having a miscarriage back in 2002. In that instance, I prayed the 23rd Psalm and felt the sweetest peace I’ve ever felt in my life. (Today, my 11 year old daughter sits beside me reading.)
Thanks for sharing, LuAnn. It’s so beautiful to experience the power of praying scripture.
