What’s one way to demonstrate your love for your spouse?

Encouragement

We all need encouragement. It does make a difference – in good times and in difficult times. Encouragement is love in action.

Show your love by talking about all the good things in your past together. If you’re struggling right now, perhaps it’s time to look backward. Remember and reminisce, dwell on the blessings in your life together.

Take a memory walk through your photo albums if you need some inspiration. Leave a few photos around the house – post some old ones on the bathroom mirror. Text a photo to your spouse of a happy time together.

And then imagine the good things that will come.

Hope is encouragement in action

Show your love by praying for your spouse. Prayer is a direct source of encouragement.

It lifts up the person praying, because you’re releasing all those heavy thoughts. It lifts up the person who is being prayed for…  Consider praying for your spouse’s: faith, attitude, parenting, purpose, fears, reputation, priorities, relationships, emotions, self image, health, work, burdens in the past, obedience to God, protection, and more …

prayer is encouragement in action

(As a wife, if you need some prompts, try the book The Power of a Praying Wife and if you’re a husband – The Power of a Praying Husband Book of Prayers. I’m using this book every morning. It really focuses your time in prayer for your spouse.)

Bottom line?

Encouragement is love in action.
