Well, Hey there!
It’s nice to meet you.
(Yup. That’s about it. Just me. Nobody special. This writing an “about page” is un-com-fort-able! <sigh>)
What would you really like to know?
I can tell you what I’m not…
- I’m not perfect. Oh, so far from perfect.
- I’m not polished. Inside or out. What you see, is, well… what you see.
- I’m not an extrovert. (Find me quietly in the corner in any large group.)
So. What’s important to you – what would make me a person you might be interested in chatting with? (maybe)
I’m learning how to be a Christ follower. Every day I strive to make my Savior smile. Some days are better than others… Being a Christian is a constant joy in learning.
I’m learning how to be a wife. Being married doesn’t stay the same. Robert and I are married 30 years, but what I needed to know in year 5, was different than in year 12, and still different in year 30. Marriage is a constant learning.
I’m learning how to be a mother. I’m a mom to grown kids. It’s a whole different ball-game now that they’re not relying on me for their breakfast or teaching them while we home-schooled. They’re adults. They’re on their own, and I’ve added a daughter-in-love to my children. But I’m still a mom. Parenting in every stage is a constant re-learning.
I’m learning how to communicate my passion for encouragement. I’m a word-nerd. If it’s written down, I’ve gotta read it. Signs, cereal boxes, every flyer, if it has words, I’m captivated. Libraries! I feel about libraries as some feel about shopping! But reading something, and writing to communicate is such a different endeavor. Communicating through the written word is a challenge and I’m constantly learning.
I’m learning how to encourage. Encouraging with Hope. Encouraging with my Faith in God. Encouraging by Loving. Encouraging through and by Prayer. Encouraging by taking action. And still constantly learning.
I’m learning how to embrace adventure. Robert and I are traveling around North America with our F150 pickup and our home is our OpenRange Light Fifth Wheel. Everything is constantly new. I’m learning how to live in 282 square feet with my best friend. I’m learning how to adapt to new environments, reach out to meet new people, and embrace all the new things God wants me to learn. Yeah. Constant learning.
I guess what you might want to know about me are my values. Robert and I have decided our three differentiating values are these: Optimism, Discovery and Loyalty. In this season of our life, Discovery, (it could be phrased as learning) is a big part of my life!
Just for fun, here’s a visual representation of what’s important to me …
Thank you for reading this far…
It’s very kind of you to read this far.
One of the most valuable aspects of the online world is that distance is irrelevant – I’d be honored to connect with you – and perhaps, when we’re in your area of North America, we can chat!
Facebook: Encourage Your Spouse
Oh, I like you!
What else can I tell you… Hmmmm.
This is what I’m currently doing with my husband:

I also invite you to check out our business blog: LeadershipCouples.com/blog .
Robert and I write about couples in leadership positions – in their family, in business, ministry & non-profit.
But what about this encouragement stuff?
What is Encouragement – Here Are The Basics
Oh. Hi there!
You’re still with me?
Now, we really need to have a chat over a cup of tea – or coffee – or hot-chocolate.
Or sweet-tea, if you’re from the south! (southern USA)
What else can I tell you…?
What got me started writing about encouragement?
Why am I thinking, researching, blogging, writing and reading about encouragement?
My interest started over 10 years ago. I was reading some books on personal mission statements and decided to follow the exercises.
The end realization was that my greatest joy in life has been (and continues to be) giving encouragement. Being positive. A smile, a word, a card, an new concept offerred as a suggestion to a problem, a hug, a pat on the back, a celebration – they’ve all been things I’ve felt compelled to do.
From that first exercise to create a personal mission statement came the 5 actions. Hope, faith, love, prayer and action. That’s where my interest in encouragement began – encouraging those I love.
My interest grew into a passion when I realized husbands and wives with encouraging spouses had a greater sense of peace and purpose in their marriage. Robert is my greatest encourager. And I try to be his. I’ve found so many other spouses who also encourage each other – researching and hearing their stories has been very rewarding.
Did you know there are over 100 synonyms for ‘encourage’?
Isn’t that neat – 100+ words about encouragement!
I told you I was a word-nerd!
Thank you for reading all the way down here.
This page has become quite long… but if you can think of anything you’d still like to know, please reach out with an email! (tweeting works faster, though.)
It’s really good to meet you.
wishing you much joy,
PS – just some business stuff that the government says I must include. You can stop reading if you want…
