About

I’m a wife - We met at 15 & 17 and have been married 27 years.

I’m a mom to grown kids. One daughter.  One son & a daughter-in-love.

And a Christian. I’m a Child of God and I want to be led by Him in everything.

My days are filled with:

  • encouraging – I’m reading, researching, interviewing, & blogging about the 5 ways to encourage.  That’s what this blog is all about… my husband keeps asking me when I’m going to finish “that book”!  Robert is bi-vocational – business & ministry – so supporting and encouraging him in both areas is key to our success in life.  Here’s what Robert is doing:  FergusonValues.com
  • working in my son’s business – EpicRealm.net –  He’s a driven entrepreneur with a huge vision for web-video and he’s also my retirement plan ;-) .
  • I also love spending time with the two girls in my life – my daughter & new daughter-in-love.
  • Spending time with friends.  How I wish I could spend time with all my friends and family on a regular basis - unfortunately distance and a full schedule constantly hamper that desire.
  • serving wherever God puts me.

Why encouragement?
Why am I thinking, researching, blogging, writing and reading about encouragement?
My interest started about 8 years ago.  I was reading some books on personal mission statements and decided to follow the exercises.
The end realization was that my greatest joy in life has been (and continues to be) giving encouragement.  Being positive.  A smile, a word, a card, an new concept offerred as a suggestion to a problem, a hug, a pat on the back, a celebration – they’ve all been things I’ve felt compelled to do.
From that first exercise to create a personal mission statement came the 5 actions.  Hope, faith, love, prayer and action.  That’s where my interest in encouragement began – encouraging those I love.
My interest grew into a passion when I realized husbands and wives with encouraging spouses had a greater sense of peace and purpose in their marriage.  Robert is my greatest encourager. And I try to be his.  I’ve found so many other spouses who also encourage each other – researching and hearing their stories has been very rewarding.

Did you  know there are over 100 synonyms for ‘encourage’?

If you have been encouraged by your spouse – or perhaps you know an encouraging couple – I’d love to talk with you!  Send me a note - Lori@encourageyourspouse.com
